Four Winds

Four Winds
1980
The heart has its four winds
And feeling is one
As the East wind brings rain
Blows a while but gives none
The North wind brings dreams
And puts frost in the heart
And the dark night unending
And death has its part
In the howl of the north wind
The power of the gale
The heart turns a season
And the West fills the sail
But the heart has four winds
And it calls to the last
And the South sends a fire
And an earth-shaking blast
Oh the heart has its four winds
And their time comes again
In this valley of sorrows
On Gaza's scarred plain
